"What are they going to add next as part of the uniform, a Kitchen Sink?"
"- Anonymous Recruit during a Cybersol Session."
"Don't tempt the Vicar"
"Vicars Orders #254"
- The People's Defender: Part of the National Reconstruction Process, the new Recruit of the Federation is equipped with everything it may ever need on the battlefield, and then some, it'll be an Integral part of any Cybernetic Army.
- The Cyberbolivarian Standard: The Recruit is not only the basic soldier of the Federation, but the Engineer too, and not only that, as every structure of the Federation has to be set up and built by one or more Recruits.
- Hernias are your worst enemy: This comes at a cost though, aside from their hefty cost, greater than most mainline infantry, the speed and combat capacity of the Recruits are patently inferior to most of their peers, they simply aren't meant to carry a fight on their own.
- And a Gentleman: A Recruits education is never truly finished and those who've been on the battlefield for enough time are probably going to show for that, sooner or later, they'll all learn out how to make the best use of their Cybersyn devices.
Both Chile and Argentina follow extremely different doctrines and standards for combat, a fact made all the more apparent by the War in Chile.
When the Argentine Army and the Peacekeeper support it brought poured into the country, it soon became clear that the outdated Prussian standards the Chilean army held in such high regard just didn’t cut the standards in a modern field of battle, while also making extremely clear that the Soviet support they had gotten up to that time had been inadequate and minimal. Chile was quickly swept under the offensive and within the month was already occupied.
When the Vicar and her cohort came into scene and changed the tide of battle, eventually turning it back and changing the front to the Argentine side, something similar was made apparent for the Argentine army, while holding their own better than their Chilean counterparts, the Allied weapons and tactics still were no match to an army prepared for and reliant on extremely fast mobile tactics and irregular warfare.
Soon enough, the tide of battle had changed in favour of the Cybernetic government and Argentina was under their control, Buenos Aires becoming the last true stronghold of an army in quick and embarrassing retreat.
As the dust settled, something became patently clear: Neither standard was good enough for a modern battlefield, if the Federation was to succeed, it had to start their own school of thought for military tactics, foreign weapons and systems simply couldn’t be relied on an ever changing world, even on this field, Cyberbolivarianism had to carve its own path.
It was at this point that the Vicar proposed, if the field of Cybernetics could revolutionize the way the government is administered, why couldn’t it also be applied to revolutionize the army?
With this principle in mind, the new soldier, the armed defender of Cyberbolivarianism, was born.
Taking advantage of the peerless advantage on communications Cybersyn provided, a special, encrypted and exclusive version of Cyberfolk was created to coordinate military actions and communication, simply known as Cybersol.
The new soldiers couldn’t be used only for warfare though, they wouldn’t fall in the same mistakes of the past, this new defender of the people had to be an educated patriot, working for the wellbeing of the people and its government.
For this, extensive courses were created to educate the new soldier of the Fatherland, not only on the principles of combat and citizenship, but of engineering and construction. This was created with a clear goal in mind, not only would this allow the soldiers to have a higher degree of loyalty not only to the army, but to the government and the people they are protecting, but more importantly, this was created with the goal in mind of fastening the reconstruction process of the country, as each soldier would have to participate in the process of reconstruction as part of their training.
As part of this initiative, no expenses were spared on the arming and equipment of this new soldier, Cybersyn receivers and transmitted were mounted up in the backpack of every soldier, combat knifes, construction tools, explosives (for strict civilian endeavours) and all sorts of sensors and counters were added to the standard issue equipment of each Recruit, not to mention the new “Halcon” Submachinegun, an indigenous design that was now taken as the standard for the Federal Soldier.
The last step in this rebuilding process was to find the new soldier of the Federation. After a war that left the armies of two of the three member states of the Federation crippled and with many of the veteran soldiers either dead, on the run, or still fighting a hopeless fight for a war that already over, it became patently clear that a massive recruitment effort had to take place for the ranks of the army to be fulfilled again.
While the idea of obligatory conscription was considered, it was discarded in favour of a less orthodox system, participation would be entirely voluntary, yet it would grant instant citizenship, no matter prior condition, as long as the recruit is at least 15 years old. It’d also grant various other benefits too, secured job and government housing par the course of the socialist protect, but also free reign to take justice into your own hands as part of the Vigilante Force initiative, the knowledge that the people and the community you’re part of will be protected and taken care of and instant access to the much more modern and efficient wireless Cyberfolk system.
Free building materials would be provided too, as part of the effort for the fast reconstruction of the country, and for the many displaced, homeless or simply desperate people found after the war, this proposal came as a gift come from heaven, suddenly, they had a new purpose on life, to serve the people and the cause of Cyberbolivarianism, to rebuild their beloved nation and protect it from anyone who would dare to endanger it once again.
While carrying a heavy burden, both figuratively and literally, the ranks of the new Recruits are ecstatic of their role in the reconstruction of the country and the Vicar is equally ecstatic to declare this new soldier intiative as a resounding success.
Behind the Scenes
The Recruit overall aspect is inspired by the "Soldado del Futuro" from the Synco novel and Comic Book.
